Communities in Motion - Being an Active Bystander
Would you like to learn how you can help make your community and workplace safer?
This session will be led by Lisa Clappinson, Domestic Abuse Training & Development Officer, East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
With Community in Motion training, you can learn how to be an active bystander. This means you can play a role in stopping violence against women and girls.
The aim of this training is to raise awareness about gender-based violence in England and Wales. It will give you tools and strategies to safely support or challenge others if you see something that is not right, both within the workplace and within your wider life.
This approach focuses on boys and men not as perpetrators, but as empowered bystanders who can challenge abusive behaviour and support those experiencing abuse.
It also focuses on girls and women not as victims, but as empowered bystanders who can support peers and challenge abusive behaviour.
What will this session give me?
As OD Practitioners and Senior Leaders, we all have a responsibility to enable the environments we operate in to be inclusive and accessible for all.
Lisa’s session is designed to equip us all with practical tools and techniques, so we can feel confident to intervene if and when we ever experience behaviour which we need to challenge within our work, or within our wider lives.
There will also be time and space within the session to think about how the principles learnt can inform cultural change and systemic development within our organisations, and how we can ensure any policies or procedures attending to gender-based violence are actualised in practice in the workplace.
